Homework for a child account
Updated July 29, 2026 · 4 min read
The family area can show a child's homework and status. When delegated submission is enabled, the product clearly records the parent as the actor.

Outcome
The child's homework followed or submitted through delegation, with the parent recorded as actor
Before you start
- The child's account is linked to your parent account.
- Family, Homework and delegated submission features are available.
- The homework belongs to the exact child selected in the Family area.
Steps to follow
Open the child's homework from Family
From the Family area, select the child and open Homework. Do not sign in as the child; the parent view uses the verified relationship between the two accounts.
- Open Family and choose the correct child.
- Select Homework from the child's profile.
Expected result
You see only the selected child's homework, including tutor, advisory due date and current status.
Use the delegated submission action
For homework that is still open, select the parent action and complete the answer on the child's behalf. The dialog identifies the child before the answer is submitted.
- Open homework marked To do.
- Confirm the child's name, then add the answer and files.
Expected result
The homework is submitted for the child, while history records the parent as the person who acted.
Submit after the advisory due date when still open
The advisory due date does not close homework automatically. If the status is still To do, a parent can continue; after submission, the option stays hidden until a possible redo request.
- Check the status instead of relying only on the displayed date.
- Submit only when the delegated dialog remains available.
Expected result
A late answer is accepted while the assignment has not already been submitted.
Follow the tutor's feedback
After review, reopen the homework from the child's history to see feedback, rubric and files. If the result is not on the first page, use Load more. A redo request reopens the workflow without removing the earlier submitted attempt.
- Open the Reviewed group in the child's homework.
- Select Load more for older reviews.
- Check the feedback and any redo request.
Expected result
You see the tutor's result and attempt history without accessing the child's account.
Keep the child's own path available
Parent access does not disable the child's account. The child can submit open homework independently, and the first valid submission records its actor and closes that attempt.
- Agree in advance who will submit the homework.
- Do not create a duplicate answer after the status changes.
Expected result
There is one submission for the attempt, and the history shows who answered and for which child.
If something does not work
I cannot see Homework for my child.
Check the family link and whether Homework and delegated submission are available in the current environment.
The submission button has disappeared.
The homework was probably submitted already. It can reopen only when the tutor requests a redo.
The dialog shows a different child.
Close it without submitting, return to Family and select the correct child's profile.
Frequently asked questions
Can I see my child's homework from my parent account?
Yes, open the child's profile from the Family area and choose Homework; you'll see the instructions, advisory due date and status without signing in as them.
Can I, as a parent, submit an answer for my child's homework?
If the submit button is available, yes; the system records you as the actor for that action, while the homework stays attached to your child.
I missed my child's homework deadline. Can I still submit the answer?
Yes — the due date is advisory, and the submit option stays available even after it passes. It only disappears once the homework has already been submitted; if the tutor requests a redo, submission becomes available again.
What happens to the homework history if I submit the answer?
The history keeps who acted (you) and who the homework is for (your child) separate, so the record stays accurate and clear.
Can my child submit their own homework even though I have parent access?
Yes, the child's own submission isn't affected by your parent access; the two paths work independently.
